Tilly Akua Nipaa, a team member, reveals that Afua Asantewaa received food, money, and gifts from the government during her sing-a-thon, contradicting the singer’s recent claim that she received only throat medicine.
Tilly Akua Nipaa, an Afua Asantewaa’s team entertainment analyst, has addressed the singer’s recent claims about a lack of government support during her Guinness World Record (GWR) singing marathon attempt.
Government support claims are debunked.
During a media interview, Tilly refuted Afua Asantewaa’s suggestion that she received no governmental assistance, stating clearly that the team was provided with food, financial contributions, and other items, particularly from the office of the former Vice President, Dr. Bawumia Mahamudu.
Socrates Sarfo directed me to personally deliver the items to the singathon venue, which I did. Tilly explained that she also took photos as proof of the donation.
Photos emerge to support donation claims.
Photos have since surfaced online, allegedly supporting Tilly’s claims. The photos show food packages, water bottles, and other items being handed over to the team. Notably, Afua Asantewaa’s husband is seen in the photos leading the team as they receive the packages.
Afua Asantewaa has repeatedly denied receiving significant state support during her record-breaking attempt. She previously stated that all she received from Dr. Bawumia was throat medication to help her manage vocal strain.
She revealed that the only gift she received from the former vice president was medication to treat her sore throat, which she has kept as a memento of the gesture’s significance.
When Afua first made her revelation, fans were taken aback because they thought state officials had given her more concrete support. However, recent events—such as photographic proof and her own team member’s testimony—indicate that the story may be more complicated than the public initially thought.
Bawumia gave me sore throat medication, but that was all the government gave me. Asantewaa Afua
Afua Asantewaa, a Ghanaian businesswoman and Guinness World Record candidate has explained that the only gift she got from a government official during her first sing-a-thon attempt was medicine. Afua Asantewaa denied allegations that the previous administration had given her an apartment and cars in an Instagram post featuring an interview with Nana Romeo from March 13, 2025.
@npp_tv Afua Asantewaa is a liar for saying she only received sore throat medicine from Dr. Bawumia. In fact, Salam Mustapha, on behalf of Dr. Bawumia, presented several packages of Papaye for the crew, along with drinks and a big fat envelope, all of which were received by her husband, Mr. Aduonum. I was the one who took the pictures. — Tilly Akua Nipaa exposes the ungrateful Afua Asantewaa #fyp #fypp #news #breakingnews #bawumia2028 #itispossible
